A Bit About Me
Jonathan Carter is an educator, theatre director, and the founder of JCTE Arts Foundation. He has spent his career at the intersection of the classroom and the stage, building original programming that helps young people grow as students, artists, and leaders.
Jonathan serves as Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Rye Country Day School, where he also teaches. Through Jay Carter Theatre Experience, the company he founded, he has directed theatre programming across schools in the Bronx and Westchester, including a recent production of The Wiz Jr. His work blends rigorous arts education with a deep commitment to access, meeting students where they are and expecting the best from them.
He founded JCTE Arts Foundation to extend that work and open it to more schools and more young people. His approach is grounded in a belief he often returns to: that every child has a story worth telling, a voice worth hearing, and gifts worth developing.
